Those taking part in winter sports should look to add the winter sports cover to their policy, this covers ski equipment. the hire of ski equipment, your ski pack (life passes, ski school fees) and piste closure.
Skiing is a dangerous past time, dangerous but oh so very enjoyable and its this enjoyment that makes skiing and snowboarding so appealing to many.
Come October time many travel to popular snow resorts such in France, Switzerland and Italy for skiing, snowboarding and various other winter sports activities.
Winter Sports Equipment
Your insurer will cover up to the amount shown in the features and benefits table of your policy document for the accidental loss of, theft or damage to ski equipment, both your own and equipment hired by you.
Ski Hire
We will pay up to the amount shown in the table of benefits for each full 24-hour period for the cost of hiring other skis, poles, ski boots and bindings, snowboards, snowboard boots and bindings or ice skates if:
- your winter sports equipment is delayed during your trip for over 12 hours; or
- you lose your winter sports equipment or it is stolen or damaged during your trip.
Ski Pack
A ski pack includes ski-school fees or ski-instructor fees, hired skis, ski boots and bindings, snowboards, snowboard boots and bindings or ice skates, and the cost of any lift pass you have booked. Your insurer will pay for this if you are ill or injured while you are on holiday.
Piste Closure
Should the lift systems be closed we will pay:
- the cost of transport to the nearest resort, up to the amount shown in the table of benefits
Avalanche Cover
Your insurer will cover costs of using an alternative site should yours be closed due to an avalanche (up to the amount in the table of benefits).
